Photography as a means of self expression

Photography is a powerful tool for self-expression. It allows us to capture the world around us through our own unique lens, and to share our perspective with others. Whether you're a professional photographer or just someone who enjoys taking pictures, photography can be a deeply personal and meaningful way to express yourself.

As Steven Pressfield writes in his book "The War of Art," "The artist is a servant who is willing to be a birth-giver." Through photography, we can give birth to our ideas and emotions, and share them with the world. We can capture the beauty, the pain, and the wonder of the world around us, and communicate it to others in a way that words never could.

But photography is not just about capturing what's in front of the lens. It's also about capturing how the artist sees the world. Each photographer has their own unique perspective, their own way of seeing and interpreting the world. The camera is simply a tool to capture that perspective, to freeze a moment in time and share it with others.

Through photography, we are able to take our creativity into the world with us. I am quite used to sitting in a dimly lit studio, painting or writing music behind the scenes– but with photography I have been able to practice my love of art out in the world amongst others, wherever I want to be.

So if you're looking for a way to express yourself, to explore y our own creativity, and to connect with others, consider picking up a camera (and yes, I recommend getting an actual mirrorless or DSLR camera). Let yourself create, and capture the world as only you can see it. With photography, the possibilities are endless, and the only limit is your own effort and imagination.
